Description

We picked thos old dowager up late last year where we drove through epic snowstorms and stayed in one of the most delapidated hotels know to mankind, or personkid as our illustrious 'leader' would say. We ventures onto Peachland or Summerland, or some far off land and rescued this as a spares vehicle for our 1967 Daimler V8.

What are these Daimlers? Essentially, a badge engineered Jaguar Mk2 240 with the Edward Turner two and half liter Hemi that was used in the Dart/SP 250. Quite sedate, they sound rather nice and think of them as a contemporary rival to the larger Humbers and Rovers of the day. Not sporty, but at home in the leafy suburbs, driven my an upper management tyope in a pinstripe suit and bowler hat that stays at his gainful employment until retirement, receives a gentle round of applause, handshakes and a carriage clock, then lives out his days pottering around the garden and fixing things in the shed. Essentially, the person, in later years that I want to become. Does that show lack of ambition? Or an appreciation of life and desire for quiet contentment? Either way, the Daimler was an affordable, luxury car for the middle classes and the feel of wood, bakelite, leather and wilton carpets, combined with that Old British Car Aroma makes you feel just right. Travel back in time to the swinging sixties, and whilst everyone else swings...or swong, gently ease the selector into drive, let the Bog Warner engage and ease yourself down the road with the reassuring burble of that tiny two and a half liter Turner V8, wafting you through green and pleasant lands.

Both cars are now up for grabs, as a pair or individually, and we do have some other alternatives detailed below.

Brian and Doug, if you're reading this, pop down with your tool box and prayer mat and get this one running.

This Daimler is BC Registered and looks like she could be made into a driver, or she could yield a wealth of parts to get the Burgundy Daimler running.

To add to the mix, we have a burgundy Daimler 250 V8 that can either come back to live or yield a whole host of valuable parts, so have two runners or make one nice car from two.

What would we like to do with the old girl? We're open to suggestion...

1). We could simply sell the Daimler

2). We could sell the Daimler with the second Daimler

3). If you are competent, know old British cars and want to get one or both running and driving, please give Adam a shout.

4). Don't mention #4...we have 3 x Sunbeam Alpine Grace Kelly Cars and a Morris 8 Series E Tourer that need to find homes, and we have a 40ft storage container full of spare parts.
